Cavegirls lose five-set thriller at Lovington

The Carlsbad volleyball team scrapped and fought to the end Tuesday at Lovington, but the Cavegirls came up short in a five-set heartbreaker (25-20, 15-25, 25-17, 17-25, 12-15).

Sophomore outside hitter Carrie Lynn had six kills and three service aces. Sophomore middle blocker Kaylie Hewitt had six kills and three blocks, while junior outside hitter August Tiller had five kills and four digs. Sophomore libero Marissa Reyes had 13 digs on the night.

Carlsbad was 79-of-89 on serves.

The Cavegirls (2-3) will play next in the Roswell Zia Classic tournament, which starts Friday.
